Canterbury House

A Meeting Place for Diocesan Groups ________________________________

Canterbury House, adjacent to the University of Maine Orono campus, is the property of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.  For 50 years it has also served as the rectory of St. James' in Old Town. Presently, there is no organized Canterbury Club in Orono.  Therefore space is available for diocesan groups.

Facilities

The meeting room is 20 x 27 feet with four movable tables often arranged in a square to accomodate 20 persons comfortably. Arranged separately, the tables seat 32 with eight per table. There is an adjoining kitchenette with a refrigerator, stove, coffee makers, dishes and sink. A necessary room adjoins the meeting room.

Parking

There is ample parking across the street from the entrance to Canterbury House at 2 Chapel Road. This is a university lot with "Tow Away Zone" sign. No one has been towed away during the eight years we have been here! It is safe to park there. In fact, the sign is almost obscured by overgrowing tree branches!
